We have been kindly invited by Chateau Dumas to run a Workshop during the summer - something we are very excited about.

Chateau Dumas run a comprehensive range of craft based courses during the summer everyday, offer a broad range of activities within the salubrious surroundings of the rolling French countryside.

Between the 13th-20th July we will be running a week long workshop putting the art and craft of letter writing centre stage - we will be creating bespoke social stationery boxes, filled with personalised stationery using wood engravings and letterpress printing.

We aim to put all our ‘kit’ (wood engraving paraphernalia, Adana printing presses, a cornucopia of papers, ribbons and materials etc) into the back of our car and are heading south in July. It’s a little adventure for us, and with any luck a fun time for our attendees.

Here is a bit about our Social Stationery Course at Chateau Dumas

Your mission on this week is to create an elegant social stationery box complete with personalised hand-printed stationery and envelopes.

After a relaxed hands-on session on how to engrave on boxwood, you’ll be free to experiment with the engraving tools exploring textures and marks. You’ll record and refine your ideas in a sketchbook before moving onto a final engraving which will be used to print on your handwriting paper and envelopes.

To make your personalised stationery you'll set your name using cold metal type and you'll then be guided in using the Adana printing presses to print your type and your wood engraving together on either writing paper or correspondence cards.
